As we look forward to officially welcoming spring in a couple of weeks, we want to tell you about some upcoming education and retreat opportunities!
Jackie Brown is our resident longarm educator with over 15 years experience and a resume full of award-winning quilts. She didn't start out that way; she taught herself along the way and can help you to elevate your longarm quilting skills and confidence. On Tuesday, March 15th, she will be teaching two classes: Feathers from 9 am-12 pm and Background Fills from 1-4 pm. Pick the session that peaks your interest or you can stay all day! Cost is $45.00 per class.HandiQuilter Two Day Event: Adam and Micki will be back in store March 16th-19th to demonstrate the fundamentals of Handi Quilter longarm quilting machines. In addition Micki and Adam will each teach an evening class. Micki's class is great for owners to learn more about their longarm machines! Need a new purse to keep your fabric money in? Let’s make it all on the longarm! We are going from start to finish of making a complete bag in one evening! Attend in-person or via Zoom. The class will take place on Thursday, March 17th from 6-7:30 pm. Class is $35.
Adam's class, called Confetti Quilting, will take place on Friday, March 18th from 6-7:30 pm. Adam loves all types of longarm quilting and often incorporates robotics, rulers, and free motion into designs, which he calls his style of confetti quilting. In this class he will talk about the process of coming up with his quilting plan and show you how easy it is to start a design with Pro-Stitcher and with a little imagination and thinking out of the box, turn that design from good to great. Attend in-person or via Zoom. Class is $35.
Our next education opportunity is a two-day Kimberbell embroidery event called No Place Like Home and will take place March 25th-26th. At this event, you’ll create one heartwarming 22" x 22″ pillow. Learn techniques such as piecing and quilting in-the-hoop with background quilting designs, a flanged border, and a variety of beautiful blocks! Your Event Project Kit is packed with everything you need, including batting, fabric, and the pillow insert. Cost for this two-day event is $159.00.
The Hoop Wranglers Retreat will take place March 29th-April 1st. Beginner to Advanced welcome. Though this is an embroidery machine retreat, please feel free to invite your non-embroidery machine friends who would like to attend to work on other sewing projects. During this retreat you can also look forward to an informational break out session on Embrilliance Embroidery Software! You will see the advantages of having embroidery software assist in your projects. If you desire, we can even load a trial version of this software on your PC. You will receive basic instructions on how to navigate the software capabilities and opportunities for your questions to be answered. Don't own an embroidery machine yet? No problem. Sign up to reserve one of our classroom demo machines for $45 for the retreat with the option to buy and receive full credit! Cost for the retreat is $225.00 and includes 5 meals, lodging and teacher fees.
The Domestic Machine Quilting Retreat with Jackie Brown will take place April 29th-May 1st. This retreat is for beginning to intermediate quilters who want to learn the process of free motion quilting to creating a sampler. Jackie will teach, guide and give advice along the way. Cost for the retreat is $225.00 and includes 5 meals, lodging and teacher fees.
