QUILT MERCANTILE--Quilt your own small project--ONLY $50Quilt your own small top for $50. Join Jackie Brown on Monday July 26th or Thursday July 29th for a one day class 9:30-5 where you will use the Handi Quilter Amara w/Pro Stitcher to edge to edge quilt a top with the robotics built into this system. BEGINNERS ENCOURAGED. No experience required. This is so much easier and quicker than quilting your small project on your domestic sewing machine or a sit-down unit. The maximum width is 45 inches but your length can be most anything. The Laura Heine collage project would be PERFECT to get quilted in this class. This is definitely less expensive than paying someone else to quilt your small project. Have a baby quilt you need done ASAP? Make your small project and join the class! Jackie Brown education for long arm quilters Sunday July 25th 2:30-5:30 Threads, Needles, Tension-$45 We all have our favorite threads and fabrics. Many times, there isn’t a match between the two—What to do?! Let Jackie take you through the different thread and fabric characteristics that will affect your tension. Be ready to expand your horizons with different combinations that have predictable results. This hands-on class will let you try different combinations and, more importantly, understand the ‘why’ regarding changes in tension. Tuesday July 27th 9:30-4:00 Rulers and Couching- ‘Make it Take it’ stocking project-$75 Rulers are an awesome tool to create the building blocks of your free motion quilts. Just like any tool, they require education to use properly and to their fullest extent. Learn the fundamentals and tips/tricks from Jackie to unlock your ‘Acrylic potential’! Jackie will bring her selection of favorite rulers. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own favorites as well to get ideas from Jackie for using them. Couching is a great way to add depth to any custom quilt. Different yarns open a world of possibility to have the quilting design jump off the fabric! We will get you up and going then spend some time accenting your own designs. At the end of the day, you will walk away with a couched quilting design on a denim stocking to hang on a mantle for Christmas! Wednesday July 28th 9:0-4 Rulers and negative space fill- ‘Make it Take It’ pillow project-$75 We’ve learned the basics of rulers, now let’s put them to use! With Jackie’s help, you will create and stitch a motif with rulers, then learn how to fill in the space with stippling, pebbles, etc. Bring your rulers you’d like to use to create the design and Jackie will help you put it all together. You will leave with a quilted pillow made by YOU!
