In 2010 I retired after 32 years working for IBM in Kansas City and Dallas. I made my first quilt in July of 1999 and loved the craft and the process and quickly got addicted and became a “Quilt Making Maniac”, per my friends. I did not start making quilts till my nest was empty, and have completed over 500 projects. I started working part time at Quilt Country in Lewisville, TX in 2001 and have learned so much from hanging around all those talented quilters. I teach some classes at Quilt Country and have spoken at and done workshops for several Quilt Guilds in the Dallas area. I am not a quilt designer but like to take someone else's pattern and make some changes so it feels like my own design. I do actually have one pattern on the market, “Play Ball”, sold under the Quilt Country name. I still get excited about each quilt I make and when I find a pattern I really love, I become “prolific”. For example, I have done over 40 Stack N Whack quilts and love teaching that class, and I have done over 20 each of String Quilts and Jacob’s Ladder, and have “created” some variations that I use in other quilts. I have made 8 One Block Wonder quilts and over 20 Wonderful 1 Fabric Quilts, which use a Border print fabric or other fabric with various kinds of stripes. In August of 2010 I became a Certified Instructor for Judy Niemeyer Patterns. I have been very busy teaching these patterns in Dallas and anyplace that requests it. I am now a retired instructor for Judy as of 2020. I love interacting with quilting groups and hearing many new quilting stories. I can’t wait to meet your group.
